Check out this short clip that I edited using After Effects.
This was done at the request of my sister who wanted an awesome scene in which someone is struck by a falling tree for one of her school projects. She said that it was impossible to go too far on the effects, so I tried my best.
I have only started using After Effects recently. It is a very powerful program, but it takes practice in order to use it well. This is one of the first After Effects sequences I have produced where I wasn't simply copying a tutorial effect. I think it turned out well, though there are some subtle defects. Regardless, I am happy to get all the practice I can.
As of the 2011 AUVSI competition, one requirement for entry is the submission of a short video which describes the team. In the last week before the competition, I helped our team produce the following video, which highlights our 2011 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle named Drekar. The video describes our team's organization and illustrates some steps of the design process.

This year, our band director, Mr. Rupert, decided that our Wind Ensemble would enter a Pep Band piece, In The Stone, into the annual KZOK Battle of the Bands competition. Mr. Rupert invoked my help for the video editing as well as assistance in the filming process. We decided that we would take a trip up a local mountain and film a scene on top.
This video project took around a week to complete with several days of planning, several days of filming, and several days of editing. The deadline for the video also happened to coincide with the deadline for MIT's Early Action Application, so that was fun. The video has been submitted as of November 1st and is available for public viewing.
Our video was recently featured in our local newspaper; check out the following link: http://snovalleystar.com/2010/01/13/mount-si-students-literally-climb-mountain-to-film-video
Update (02/03/2010): We have just made it past the voting phase of the competition. Our video and 9 others will be judges by a panel of celebrity judges who will determine the winners of the competition.
Update (02/18/2010): The results of the contest have been released and unfortunately, we did not place in the top 7. However, an individual decided that our movie deserved more and donated $1000 to our band program. Despite this rather disappointing outcome, I am still glad that I played a part in the production of this video.
The video is embedded below; if you have the bandwidth, please watch it in HD 1080p.
The Spanish Movie Series is a sequence of projects for my Spanish class Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years of high school. This project involved creating an original dialog, filming, and editing in the course of a few days; for many of the projects, all-nighters of some sort were required in order to complete this project by the deadline. The expectations for this project were much lower than these projects; a simple poster board would have sufficed in most cases. However, my friend and I decided that we were going to exceed the expectations through these projects and apply our knowledge of video production and special effects to our Spanish classes.
Each of these videos features a sci-fi "secret agent" theme. We chose this style of video because we had seen plenty of the cliche "person orders from a clothing store" Spanish project videos and wanted to create something original and unique.
Please check out the movies listed below; note that the first movie was produced Freshman year and they get sequentially better as our experience increased both in the Spanish language and in the field of video production and editing.
Spanish Movie 8 is my favorite in the series; you might enjoy watching that one.
